Professional Experience

I work for specialist independent schools, SEMH schools and specialised residential homes, working with children who have difficulties with their emotional and social development, including self-harm, aggression, managing emotions, low self esteem and challenging behaviour.

I spent 18 months working for Harmless and The Tomorrow Project (The National Centre of excellence for self-harm and suicide prevention) where I gained training and experience working with individuals at risk of self-harm, suicide and those affected by suicide.

Working as a HR consultant I understand the stigma around mental health in the workplace and how it can often be difficult to ask for help. Work related emotional stress effects include, feeling anxious or depressed, feeling that you are not doing a good job, unable to concentrate, lack of confidence, unable to make decisions, feeling overwhelmed, lack of energy and mood swings.

Personal Experience

Religious Trauma - Having experience of coping with the damage of religious indoctrination and breaking away from a controlling community, I can help you with the feelings that you may be experiencing such as anxiety, panic attacks, suicidal ideation, anger, grief, guilt, and loneliness.

Type 1 Diabetes - My child was diagnosed with T1 diabetes at the age of 10. I understand how scary and stressful this can be for the individual with the diagnosis and loved ones. People with a chronic illness are at risk of heightened mental health issues. I can help you deal with emotions that you may be feeling like, stress, anger, sadness, denial, and burnout.

Carolyn is a wonderful person, practitioner and an incredibly valued member of the CK Therapy team. Carolyn started working with me as a compassionate partner in September 2022 and has been an asset ever since. Carolyn is a kind, warm and deeply empathetic individual who puts every client at the forefront of her practice.

She has a wealth of experience. Carolyn works within in areas which can be incredibly difficult to navigate for both client and practitioner including bereavement and self-harm with admirable ability.

I have always received deeply positive feedback from clients who have worked with Carolyn noting her attention to detail, skills in psychoeducation and ability to support when no one else has. For instance when working with young people Carolyn finds games that are of interest to the young person and utilises these to help the young person to feel safe, heard and use the game to explore themes of therapy that might be difficult for a child to understand without this.

I couldn’t recommend Carolyn enough.
